Debbie, I don't know how other people might approach it, but when I did my first bulk upload, I saved the sample file, opened it in a spreadsheet (like Excel), deleted all the product data (kept the first line column headers) and then inserted my own product data.
The spreadsheet format is really useful if you have lots of products with some of the same data. Data can be easily copied from one cell into many cells.
One tip- it has never worked for me to just "save as" a tab delimited file from the spreadsheet. I have always had to copy and paste the rows & columns of the spread sheet into a basic text editor and then save that file. That text file is the one that will upload to bisi.

Gayla, thank you so much for posting how you upload lots of items...Does this also work with bulk editing? I'm now editing items one at a time.. It sure would be nice to do it faster...

Yes, it does! I love the bulk editor. It's a great time saver, especially if you have a simple edit (like price or weight) that you need to apply to a lot of products. You just bulk export the category that you want to edit items in. Save it to your computer. Open it as a spreadsheet and make the changes you want.
Again, copy and paste the rows & columns to a text editor. Save that file and upload it under the Bulk Edit tab.
Note: the edit file is different than the original upload file so don't get them confused. Also, the edit file does not have the images column so images have to be edited individually.
