Anyone ever use traffic exchanges? Are they worth using?

I'm not so sure they are, based on some things I've read recently. But I don't know for sure. Maybe someone else could weigh in on that.
Meanwhile, I'd like to know what others might be able to tell us about the effectiveness of Google AdWords.

I use Really Smart Deals. It did get some traffic for my ebay store but eBay made a change recently and caused it to "break frames" so it can't be used there. BISI is also banned because our stores "break frames". I'm not really sure what that means, but it leaves me paying $1.99 a month to drive traffic only to my website, which is just a placeholder with a link to my stores, and to my few Amazon listings.
I love to hear about any other traffic exchanges that are better.

</script> It's often used so other sites cannot steal your content, or to reduce bandwidth. Don't know if it can be removed on an upgraded store, haven't tried.

| For free advertising, carve out some time every day to comment on various blogs and/or participate on forums where you can have your URL in your siggy. Most blogs allow you to include your URL when you comment. It's best to participate in places somewhat related to what you sell but other places can work, too. Real participation is key though. If you are seen as a spammer with no real interest in the blog or forum, you will be wasting your time, for the most part.
