We are about 1-1/4 hours NE of downtown Columbus and SW of Cleveland, in Fredericktown (Mt. Vernon is our nearest "urban" area, but we shop in Mansfield). We have already drunk the hot chocolate, and we have a closet full of board games and jigsaw puzzles! Right now, the stamp collections are out, "March to Bataan" is on in the family room, and two of us are redesigning our daughters' website. Winter does have a slower pace that more than makes up for the inconvenience. (Actually, I can only say that because I'm a stay-at-home wife and don't make the 49-mile drive to Wooster every day that my husband does. His posting would probably be slightly different. ) We moved here 14 years ago from Miami, Florida. We strongly dislike hot weather. No, we didn't HAVE to move here. After my husband's second and last (Lord willing) bout with cancer, I asked him where he'd like to live, and he said Ohio (he'd been here for a week on our honeymoon). We moved when the chemo was finished. The girls were 4-1/2. Worth it? Just wait until you see a picture of our 30 x 100' perennial garden in May. Just dug it last year (we have two acres, one of which we garden), but we've got a lot transferred from around the yard. We are an herbal family (tinctures, salves, et al), so it's a nice mixture of wood betony, Lady's mantle, Columbines, pinks, and whatever else we could find. Couldn't have this in Miami . . .
