I upload to Google Base for some of my other stores. I think Google Base results used to show up under Froogle, which has now been changed to "Shopping".

I just did a search for one of my products on Google: Stanley Home Products Amazo Wet Mop.

The results show websites that sell Stanley Home Products. But if you click on "Shopping" at the top of your screen, you'll get results for that specific Stanley product (Amazo Wet Mop). Then you can sort them by relevance (price, newly listed, etc.). I think shoppers were used to Froogle, but I'm not sure everyone is aware of the "shopping" tab above the input box for your search. It's rather obscure. I think the Google Base uploads are a help. It took a while to get the spreadsheet formatted correctly. As I understand it, our products here on BISI are uploaded to Google Base (shopping) automatically. I'm seeing my products come up quite high on the "Shopping" results.

Hope I explained this correctly. And I hope I am giving accurate information!

Yes, some of the products that are listed in Google Base come up on Shopping, also. Some, not all. Items are automatically uploaded by BISI as long as your attributes are correct. If they aren't, then they just go into no-man's land and you'll never know. Don't assume that all of your items are submitted and/or accepted by Google. For instance, right now, only 47 of my 65 items show up in Google Base. In fact, ONLY 47 have ever shown up (for over a month). It doesn't do any good to ask about the others, because no one answers.

Back to the original topic, though. I don't think that many buyers or sellers know about shopping or base. When I look at my Google Analytics, I have never seen base.google.com as an incoming port. Anyone else seen it listed on their Google Analytics?

Janis--thanks for the clarification. Here's dumb question for you....how do you find out the number of listings that are showing up on google base? I have about 125 products for my stanley store. how would I know how many have been picked up?

Go to any Google search site: web, shopping, or base.google.com

Type in

site:stanley.mybisi.com

You'll see how many of your items will ever show up in a search in those places.

Do you have Googles Analytics AND a Google Webmaster Tools accounts? If not, let me know, and I'll direct you there. You can find these stats, and a lot more, through them, too.

Thanks, Janis. I did a search and got the following results:

Base: 123 (all of my products)

Shopping: 10

Google: none

Yes, I do have Analytics and Webmaster Tools, although i probably don't know what to do with them. I didn't realize I could track how many products show up. I can see how many hits and the keywords they used to get to stanley.mybisi, but didn't know what other information I should  track. Is there other helpful info I should be looking at on these Google tools?

Thanks so much for your help.

Christine, it's interesting that all of my products show up in google base also but only 10 are showing in google products. Wonder how they determine which 10 show? Only one product on google web search but that product has been in my store since Nov. I think the web search just takes time.

I also only have 10 items on Shopping. Must be the magic number. I have 47 of the 65 items appearing in Base (like I said, I can't get any tech people here at BISI to tell me what's happening to the other 18 items, so I can't correct it). Interestingly enough, though, I now have 56 of the 65 items appearing on a Web search (compared to 3 a couple of days ago).

I have, since I submitted my sitemap two weeks ago, been crawled two times. (Only one crawl before that, in a month). Don't know if that's what did it, but it's pretty good. The only problem is that it's still remembering the original title and copy, which have drastically changed since the first crawl. I'm hoping that they will eventually replace the old with the new. I'm very happy, though, to be finally appearing on the web search.

As for other stats . . . I go through everything on both Analytics and Webmaster to check for errors and crawl stats. Just keep an eye on it. You'll get a feel for what's important and what isn't.

Have you see this site?

How did you submit your store to get it to show on web search? Neither of my stores show. I am trying to submit my url to the webmasters tools whatever it is called but it wants me to verify and I have no clue how to do that. We need a emotiocon showing me ripping my hair out
