I successfully uploaded a test bulk file with one product - thats the good news!
But seems I remember that when a product is selected from the drop-down list, the image changed to reflect that item? Maybe I'm wrong. But I like what I see so far.
Looks like the wrong image appeared in the cart. It was an image of a different color option.
Do you still need to assign the images to each variant even the image url was provided in the upload file? All the images appear on the product page, but looks like they did not get assigned to the correct variant. When I went in to the variant setup and tried to assign an image, all of the image links were broken (torn icon). But the funny thing was I could still select one and assign it. There was some kind of problem with this. But shouldn't the bulk upload file do that for me?
(See screen shot of the variant photo tab below).
When preparing the upload file, does each url for each image stay in the first row along with the first product entered? Or should the image url go on the same row as the variant?
I tried both ways - but images are not assigned correctly and still have broken links in the variant product menu.
I uploaded the .csv file (renamed with .txt extension - bulkexport204592.tx) - way at the bottom of this page - can someone look at it and tell me if it's correct, and if so, why are the images not working correctly.

A Couple of Other Questions:
1. Is there a way to change the drop-down to a group of radio select buttons instead?
2. Is there a way to display the original price, along with the sale price on products with variants - in the same way it displays on product pages without variants? I'm thinking the original price would display near the main product title - not in the drop-down (but that may be ok to).

I know that I was having issues with variant as well, I guess that the CSV bulk upload is not completely finished yet and has some bugs, maybe let Thomas know about the problem so that he can work to fix it.

| Does anyone at least know the answer to these questions? Will the bulk upload file service automatically place the images with the proper variant?

I would think that the images should go on the line containing the variant you want to match it up with.
However, it appears that at least some of your images are not in the correct position. I just looked at your file, and while I didn't count the fields, I can tell that the images are not in the same relative position from one record to the next.
Hope this helps!

Thomas sent me a message this morning stating this was fixed - and it looks like it was. All of the images appeared correctly in the variant setup screen, but I still had to manually go in and assign each image to the variant - don't know if the bulk upload is supposed to do that for me or not.
I tried listing the image url's two different ways on two different bulk uploads. The first was listing all of the images url's across the same row using the main product as a base.
The second was placing each image url in it's corresponding row/column - so I ended up with a diagonal effect displaying all of the image url's.
The first method worked, the second did not. The second method assigned the main product's image to all of the variants - and did not upload any other images to choose from for the other variants.
So I'm glad to see this works - would be nice if the system automatically assigned the images to their variants.

I think I see the problem. If you put all of the images in the row with the top level item, then they won't be assigned to the variants. (They will just be seen as multiple images of the main product.)
On your second attempt, if I understand correctly, you placed the image for the first variant in image_url1, the image for the second variant in image_url2, etc. But I am guessing that if the import process doesn't find an image in image_url1 in any given line of your file, it stops looking and never sees what you have in image_url2 and beyond.
I believe you want to put your image URL for each variant in the image_url1 column (unless you have more than one image for that particular variant, in which case the addition images would go in image_url2 and up).
