Is there a way to archive a product that is sold out with out permanently deleting it?

Well, I sure someone here who knows a lot more about this than I do will come along and respond. I think currently, you can change varient to zero and uncheck the active on first page of listing. That I think will do it. Now if only the sorting would work right (at least it doesn't for me when clicking the inventory or views), so you can find them later when more stock arrives.

Yes, unchecking the "active" box for the product will prevent it from showing up in your store.  (If someone has a direct link to the product through a bookmark or search engine hit, I'm not sure whether it will still display or not.)

Once you have done this, it will show up in Manage Products as "disabled".

If you disable a product that still has stock, be sure to set the stock to 0, because Google can still find it.

Jennifer at BISI Designs has a little code thing that will let you leave sold out items visible in your store, marked Sold Out, with the Add to Cart button removed.

Im fine finding the items... I just wish I could choose to view only active when looking at the manage products screen. Really, I have a LOT of items I really SHOULD DELETE, but I hate the idea that I MIGHT find another and then Ill have to put it back up (which really would NOT be that much work, but I hate to redo anything!)

If I wasn't clear, at least with using either IE or FF on product page where you can click views or inventory and it (used to) take your entire inventory and place in ascending descending order but it no longer works correctly. Anyone else?

Yes, I don't have problem with the freebie 10 listings.

Was finding forum on google searches and rather not have those show up.

Anyway, anyone else try to use the sorting for views and actually have all sort properly?

I find that if you click "Title" in the headings bar, it will sort your items.  If I display items from a single category, it will sometimes only sort the first page of those listings, but if I keep clicking on title a few more times, it will actually sort everything for that category into order.
