I'm trying to make the most of being home, sick - oxymoron?! I'm plodding through here and went through a great tutorial - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TMuZOU4l6g&feature=related  Now I know what backlinks are and the importance of blogging and social networking on line.

I highly recommend you watch it, and please read my blog and comment! It will help your site, too.

That's great advice, Nancy!

Another tip: When you're blogging and mention a product name, highlight it and click "link" in the toolbar. Then enter your link to your product listing. Presto, you have a backlink with keywords! The search engines love those.

Hi Nancy,

Boy who knew? What great information in less than 10 minutes (and the site had 2 more to access). I never really understood how important blogging is to selling on the internet. I didn't even know anything about backlinks.

I read comments from bisi members who talk about blogging and the importance played in selling online. I guess I needed a visual (or in this case a video .

Thanks,

Hey Val,

You are truly an open reference book with a wealth of information just waiting to be read, I mean heard . Thanks for sharing information.

I think the key for me is accepting that building my own knowledge base is like taking baby steps. I have read where people say it takes about a year to things really rolling with their own store. I thought, I want to sell NOW!!

The thing that I had to evaluate, is that I have been selling on eBay for less than a year, and researched a good year before I even listed one single item. Once you are up and going, the bad times and hard work it took just melt away. Here I am thinking that I can just be up and going with my own site in just a minute.

Don't mean to move off topic, just as a side note eBay can be frustrating, but it fosters a sense (maybe false) of security. Everything is right there for you. There are many issue with eBay, I could begin a book. It's just that you very easily accept those shortcomings and with each sell and positive feedback, it's a big hook.

Again thanks for all you share,

Beverly
