Is there some way to set the default font (size and style) when I type / paste a product description? I do not want to have to set the font proprieties in the html editor each time I create a new product.

I tried creating a new css style for product description and added that to my custom template product details page, but there is already text formatting in place that over-rides my new style, so no changes result.

Also, what setting does the system use for that field when the import feature is used?

We have a couple of thousand products to import, so I want to get this part down.

There is no default setting for fonts. If you use a lot of HTML and custom formatting, I'd suggest writing your descriptions offline with an HTML editor and then you can just copy the HTML when you add/edit your product.

I guess what I'm asking is - when you enter a product, the product description field has a default as Arial / Helvetica Size #1. Can that setting be changed someplace to say, Arial / Helvetica Size #3? So that way each product (whether entering manually or via bulk upload) does not have to be changed to Helvetica Size #3.

Can html be included in the bulk upload file for that field?

It just seems the default size is too small in the product description.

I would think that there is a way to do what you want through the css file.  But I am not an expert on css files, so if Tomas is saying no, then I will have to go with that.

You definitely can send html in the product description.  (I have done it many times.)

You can change that with css. I think what Tomas meant was that bisi doesn't set a default font style, it's determined by the template that you use.

But if you edit the css to change the description font, be aware that it will not show up when you view the description in your product listing window. It will only show when you view the description in the full context of the entire page. And then be sure that you are viewing the .mybisi.com url instead of your own url. (Long story... but your own url won't update changes immediately like the mybisi.com url will)

Also, if you add any styling to the description when you enter it in the description window of the product listing or upload a description with styling included, the styling there will over ride any css styling.

OK - thanks - the css edit worked well.

I guess I was making it more complicated for some reason.

Well - what I'm seeing is that when I paste a product description, the system automatically applies the setting in the editor to the text - thereby over-riding the css style. I I then go back and play around with it by viewing in the html window, deleting everything, then pasting back again, then go to design window again and save, then the css setting takes hold. I'll kep playing around with it to see if I can figure it out.

If you're going to copy/paste descriptions, paste them into Notepad first. It'll remove the existing styling and then you can paste it clean into the bisi description editor window.

It could have been that I copied some products - they may have had html in their descriptions.
