We are still working on setting up a custom template but are noticing that even in the generic templates, that when there is only one item, in a category, the "cell" spreads across the entire area! When there are two items available, the space is split between the two items.
On other shopping cart sites, if there is only one item available, it sits in the first item spot. The formatting doesn't change because of quantities.
Is there a way to fix this in all the templates or can it be fixed in a custom template?
It seems like such a weird thing to be happening.
Thanks for any info.

This is NOT a custom template issue it is a BUG REPORT for generic BISI templates.
This thread was originally posted in the correct "Report a Bug" area and has now mysteriously moved to the custom template area.
If someone has the technical "know-how" to move a thread, perhaps they could put that knowledge to use, and actually fix the problem that exists in the generic templates?

This is not a bug, this is the way our templates are designed. This can be fixed with a custom template and your own HTML.

I do agree its not a bug. It just is the way its set up. I understand that you do not prefer it, but there is nothing inherently "wrong" with it either.
Frankly, a catagory with just one item perhaps should not be a catagory. If you are going to customize your templates, perhaps make a link to that item directly from the navigation menu... skipping the catagory page where just one item displays (which just makes an exra click for the user... not a problem, but not useful either

I'm really glad that it took over two days to get this answer.
So - the basic templates are designed to look bad? Therefore on top of having to customize a template to make it look better, we also have to "fix" layout issues within them? That's a reassuring thought.

Sorry to disagree but it IS a bug, and it looks bad and unprofessional. If you know anything about designing a "look" for a website, or shopping cart, or ad, or anything visual and creative, there is no room for mistakes or "half-assed" attempts to just "make-do".
Look at any shopping cart on the internet and show me where something like this happens? It doesn't happen at all. If there is one product, it shows up in the 1st spot on the page, it does not "spread" across a page.
I don't know what you sell but quite frankly, I can't put a "Chanel" handbag in the same category as a "Prada" handbag. They are two different designers, and two different categories.
I don't have many "one-of-a-kind" products but I noticed this template problem while setting up my store on BISI. I only brought four items in as a test, three handbags and one wallet, so yes, the wallet sits by itself right now.
As a store grows and you sell items off, there might be a time when you only have one or two items in a category. I want a template to work "properly" from the get-go. I'm not into finding "work-arounds" for faulty coding.
I already have had a successful shopping cart on my website for over two years. That cart is from Go Daddy and it doesn't have the problems that the BISI one does. We also had to customize the cart there but the fixes were easy, and not such a drama as it seems to be on here.
Thanks for responding though.

If you don't like it here that is fine, go back to GoDaddy. Everyone here wants to be here and we don't want to hear you rant and rave because you don't want to pay a designer to customize your site.

If I'm a customer, like everyone else here, I am ALSO entitled to my thoughts and opinions about the level or quality of service that I'm paying for. Since I AM a paying customer, I also get to question why something doesn't work properly.
Who said I didn't want to pay a designer to customize my site? My husband has already customized it, but the error I was questioning existed in the generic template.
If you don't have an answer to the question at hand, then keep your random thoughts and hostility to yourself.
