For google product_type attribute, can we use more than one word such as flower decoration. If so, do we need quotes around it like "flower decoration". Is the rule the same for the bulk upload file and the admin entry area?

Also, in the bulk upload file, do we list the google attribute exactly as it should be such as google_product_type - because the sample file has google_producttype listed.

So far I have

google_product_type
google_upc
google_mpn
google_model_number
google_material
google_color

The Google Product Type should be taken from Google taxomony.   This thread has all the information about Google and BISI, etc., with some great examples.

If you are doing a bulk file and editing the attributes, using the Taxonomy Chart will make this go much smoother for you!

For later when you are listing, just use the the form provided! BISI makes it easy to use attributes.

Yes - I really like the Taxonomy Chart. It looks like this change was mad just a few days ago - as posted on their blog:

http://googlebase.blogspot.com/2008/10/new-taxonomy-to-describe-product-type.html

So we're to enter the product_id in the bulk upload file, as well in admin like this (with the quotes around it:

"Home & Garden > Decor > Seasonal & Holiday Decorations"

Instead of like this:

Seasonal & Holiday Decorations

I double checked and the Google blog is from October 2008, so I suspect we are all using the current charts.

But for people new to E-Commerce and Google this is a good reminder to review the chart in Google to get the taxonomy right.

Thanks.

When using the attributes in your dashboard leave off the quotes:

Home & Garden > Decor > Seasonal & Holiday Decorations

I see you mention not to use quotes in admin, but do we leave the quotes for product_type in the bulk upload file?

Such as:

"Arts & Entertainment > Crafts & Hobbies > Sewing & Needlecrafts > Fabric"

If you don't use the Google SEO it is hard for Google to add your items to Shopping.

Don't use quotes in the product_type attribute.
