Due to recent changes and updates Google Base is making to their Data API, we will no longer be able to use the method of uploading individual products.
We will be discontinuing the current method of submitting Google Base items on September 1st 2009. We strongly recommend following the new procedure for automatically generating and updating your Google Base feed.
With the new method, we will automatically create a new XML Data feed file on a daily basis. We will provide you with a URL you can schedule data feed updates within your Google Base settings. You will also be able to force an update to your Google Base feed file if you need the updates sooner in which you will be able to manually upload the file.
Instructions for setting up your Data Feed File and update schedule:
If you have Google Base enabled, your feed file will automatically be generated. The Google Base settings page in your buyitsellit admin will show the last date and time it has been updated. If you have never enabled Google Base feeds, enable this option and click on "update settings" your file will be generated within the hour.
Register Your Data Feed with Google Base
Log into your Google Base account, and click on the "My Items" tab and The "Data Feeds" option.
Click on the "New Data Feed" button.
Choose your target country, and choose "Products" as your item type and choose "googlebase" as the type of datafeed you're registering.
Specify your data feed filename. This file name is provided in your Google Base section in your buyitsellit admin. An example of a filename is: 15-8485e59-1e71-44f6-9c3c-da19746f80e3.xml
Schedule automatic Updates
Once your Data Feed file has been saved, click on the create link next to the schedule. This will open a window where you can specify an automated upload schedule.
Specify your upload intervals, time and timezone.
Enter the URL of the file. The URL can be obtained from the Google Base settings of your buyitsellit admin.
Once you save the schedule, you're items will be updated on a daily basis. If needed, you can manually update the Google Base feed at anytime by saving the feed locally. (right click on the Google Base Feed URL and save it). Once this is saved, you can process a manual upload from the Data Feeds section in your Google Base account.
