Has anyone successfully forwarded a Yahoo domain?
I cannot get it to work. When I get to the part to forward my domain (www.jodiescamerastraps.com) to itselft, Yahoo gives me a message that I can't forward to the same address.
Can anyone help? I've tried the tutorial for forwarding on GoDaddy, but it doesn' work for Yahoo.
Thanks,
Jodie

I had bought a url through Yahoo for 1.99, about 9 months before coming to BISI. I also had one from Hostway. (which each are now seperate stores through BISI).
I did the Hostway one first. It turns out, the Hostway account I had did not ...... I dont know WHAT its called... soemthing about DNS Servers? I contacted them about how could I "change the DNS Servers" (not sure thats the right thing, but something shown in the post about Go Daddy).
Hostway told me that the 8.99 a year I was paying DID NOT INCLUDE the ability to xxxxxxx (whatever it was...), and that I could upgrade to that for somethign like 34.99 a year.
OK - no thanks... transfered the domain to Go Daddy - for 6.99, which included the ability to xxxxxxxxxx (change the DNS server or whatever the heck it is), AND was for a full year PLUS whatever amount of time was left on the year Id already paid for with my previous domain registrar.
When I was ready to transfer the domain name Id bought from Yahoo (to my 2nd BISI store).... Im not sure if Yahoo included the ability to xxxxxxx or not - BUT - I could see that I was going to be billed around 30$ to renew, when my year was up. Again - NOT!
---------------------
Bottom line.... some domain registry servies do not include the ability to xxxxxxxxxx (whatever it is that needs to be done to have another company host your url, which is what you are needing) in their lowest cost domain purchase. SO, it may well be that you cannot do it with your yahoo-registered url, unless you "upgrade" to a higher priced plan.
This is also true for other registrars.
Basically - I vote for transferring to Go Daddy. Im not getting any money from them, but Ive been using them for about a year (when I transfered that first url to them) and they are less expensive and more "in the business of web hosting/domains/etc)
And - the directions are shown here - so, why not make it easy!
Cindy

Jodie:
Hi, when I moved Baby's Own Room from Yahoo to BISI I forwarded my domain I had purchased from Yahoo. It is a little tricky so after a couple of attempts I called the Small Business help number and they fixed it right away for me. When all else fails, call!
