| I'm having a little trouble with google and my meta description. They're picking up 10 pages containing it, and they apparently only want one. The support board is helping with this, so that's not what this post is about. I need as many of you as possible (users of Google Webmaster Tools) to post the date of your last crawl. To find this, sign in to your GWT account and click on "overview". The very first line in the box should be: Home Page Crawl. Could you please tell me what the date is? For instance, it is Feb 19 today, and my last crawl was on Feb 10. This is not personal information, and I can't use it for anything except to try and figure this google search thing out. Please don't feel like I'm asking for private data. Thanks for the help.

Hi Janis. I have Webmaster on several sites. My last bisi crawl date was Feb 15. It doesn't show any issues with duplicate meta tags. On the other sites, the crawl date seems to be approximately once every 4-6 weeks and they have all been crawled in Feb. I suspect the more actively updated your site is, the more frequently it crawls.
I LOVE reading your analytics! But don't stress too much over Google. I think they purposely want to remain mysterious on some issues. And as soon as you think you have something figured out, they'll change their algorithms.

| Thanks for the info. I'm not stressed about google--I'm stressed about listing items that no one sees. Since each of my items is unique, it takes more time to list than 200 variations of the same basic cell phone, let's say. So, I don't want to waste this time listing things that won't be picked up by the search engines. I understand about the algorithms, but I also understand that the better you know the basic rules, the likelier your chance of winning. Tomas will have to figure out the duplicate meta tags, because I can't affect that at all. It's the crawl date that I'm curious about. Your info of 4-6 weeks is reassuring, but raises questions. For instance, this happens constantly. I list fouritems in a day, let's say. One or two items are picked up by the google search engine within seconds of hitting the Save button. Literally, seconds. The others never appear. Literally, never. How are the first items appearing immediately, if my site hasn't been crawled in a while? Obviously, there are different methods, besides a web crawl, for reaching the search engine. THIS is what I'm trying to learn. What are those methods, and how can I use them to my best advantage? I'm also beginning to wonder if "sell similar" is death to a listing. It's great for me to be able to do a "sell similar" on patterns, for instance, because I don't have to type the opening and ending text every time. I'm beginning to believe, though, that Sell Similars may be ignored in the large scheme of search engines. Perhaps it's better to just clipboard and "add new product" every time. Perhaps someone who lists variations of one item (jewelry, prints, etc.) could google every one of their listings and let me know if they're all showing up. That would answer that question. I'm sorry if stress comes out in my postings. I do not discourage easily, but I AM an intense researcher. Intensity often looks like stress. It's just that I don't want to waste a lot of time listing things that no one can see. I want to do this well. This is oh-so-new to me, but I've never dealt with something that so defies logic. Makes it fun, huh? Sorry for rambling, but I appreciate your interest. I'll keep at it, and please pray that I don't short-circuit before I either beat this or concede (smile) . . .

I am a fairly intense, focused person myself so I completely understand where you're coming from. But please keep up your efforts because we will all benefit from your conclusions!
I've had my rhinestone store here since Nov and the products have consistently shown up in google search and google products. I stocked that store primarily with a bulk upload and I've often wondered if that was a factor in the google results or not. That file included attributes.

I'd like to add a question to your thread Janis, I hope you don't mind, it's a google question - My items show up in google products and frequently in google search at the top of the page in the 3 product search results spot. What is making me a little frantic is that if anything shows up at all in regular google search, it shows up under a title of the general BISI site and brings you to the overall site. I have not yet seen one of my items come up in regular search with the title of my item and going to my store. Anyone know why that is?

I can't tell you why but I CAN tell you that my products were the same way initially and eventually they began to show up under my own store name with the link directly to my store rather than to the bisi store. Maybe it's a matter of time?

Thank you so much for that - I know it takes time to get properly indexed, it did for my other site. I just couldn't remember if that happened the last time or not.
