Mine stay right in the box that Mattel put them in.  But I always like to see how other people like to do it.

I only have a dozen or so that I call antique(76' and older)  I started in 1990 so most of mine are from there forward.

Fred, I always think I will leave them in the box, but then the kid in me has to take them out and play with them.

I think that is why the secondary market for the older ones stays pretty firm.  Boy, the bottom has dropped out of the price of antique bisque dolls lately.  I should get cracking, and fill in my collection.

The doll market is always up and down.  One thing about what we sell.  No one has to have it to get by.  Collecting is a luxury and when things are down collecting follows it.

I wish I had the extra $$ to fill out my collection and my inventory

I have a question for you all....where/how do you find the appraisal price range for vintage dolls(or anything else)?  I have just spent 2 hours typing in everything I could think of in the search engines  for some of my collectbles I want to sell and keep getting sent to feebay.  Let's face it either the sellers are having trouble getting sales or they just don't know what they have, lol.  I did find several sites that sell vintage hats and sellers on the bay were selling them for $1.00 or less.  I love to get a bargain same as next person, but believe in giving appropriate value price also.  Arrg, I have too much fair play instinct and not enough killer  Thanks

Donna...actually eBay is still the best place to find out what vintage and antique dolls will sell for.  Blue book no longer is valued as to pricing.  I always check finished auctions for availability and desirability before listing.

It definitely is a buyers market.  I am getting ready to set up a bisi website for mine.

Also,  doll shows are being revitalized and dolls do bring more there.  After years of doing the show circuit, I have retired from that venue, as I have gotten lazy in my old age.

Thank you.  I remember why I hated collectibles, lol.  Getting to old to do the circuit thing anymore, now that I have time to do them.  So guess I will just put what I think is reasonable price on the doll and hats and lots of other stuff and hope they sell eventually   Thinking of opening a garage sale store for some of our stuff to differentiate between the new stuff.  We went thru about 10 boxes of stuff today and have 2 big boxes of good but used items to try and sell, lol.  Don't feel like trying to have yard sale and would have to pay for advertising it since we are in small rural burg.  Got working camera payday, so we can get pics of all but jewelry.  Ok, will shut up now

vintage dolls(or anything else)?  I have just spent 2 hours typing in everything I could think of in the search engines  for some of my collectbles I want to sell and keep getting sent to feebay.

I have the Feebay Market research tool (one more way they get $$ out of me) it gives me the final sale price on a item sold for 60 days(how many, what it sold for, sale type, etc.).  It is very helpful on a rare doll b/c often none are listed when you are looking.  For a common doll I just do a catagory search and see how many there are and how they are going.

Hello from Nancy, who began a store here in March: Nancy Lee Moran Fine Art.

My profession is portrait and nature painting. I most admire the dolls created by French artist Heloise. I have some resin dolls, porcelain ones by Ann Timmerman and Elke Hutchens, and one reborn baby doll. I look forward to Doll Reader magazine each month.

Sometimes when I have had a portrait commission, I have been able to include dolls that belonged to children whose portraits I was painting. Once I painted a girl having tea and cookies with six of her dolls.

If someone opens a Doll or Antique Store here, please let me know it you would like to use one of my art images as a logo or banner. I have some lovely art of children playing at tea and with dolls, as well as an image of an antique cupboard. I have many images (available) that are not yet on my website.

My website since 2006: www.nancyleemoran.com
