Tomas,

I had someone, who had never been to our site, go into our site to do a test run of how easy they found it to be.  I have a suggestion from them based on the page after an item is added to cart.  Where the checkout button it located and then says or use google checkout, they indicated that this area is a little confusing.  My suggestion would be to use a drop down menu of payments that are offered.  In my case it would be two selections, one being Paypal/credit card and one being Google checkout.  I am wondering if this is why I haven't had any sales because we have definitely had people clicking on items but no successful checkouts.  Let me know your feelings on this suggestion and keep up the good work.  I love how the site is coming along and a lot of things have been improved.  Thanks.

Ashleigh

Per Google's policies, we must offer Google Checkout prior to the buyer filling out any information. This is why it is not available on the second stage of checkout.

Tomas,

I am not sure if you are understanding what I am asking.  These are the buttons on the first page before checkout after an item has been added to cart that asks them if they would like to checkout or continue shopping.  Here, on my auctions, are two options.  A checkout button that just says checkout and another that says Google Checkout.  Is there anyway to have them in a dropdown menu rather than buttons?  If not, is there anyway to seperate them some more or make them a little more distinct so they don't seem like one and the same checkout function?  Something that states either ... If you have a Google account and would like to checkout using Google checkout click here otherwise click here.  Something along these lines.  I am wondering if people are clicking on Google checkout, as it seems to stand out a little more and don't have a Google account, if when they are asked to put in their Google information since they don't have any they just leave.  According to my analytics I have had several exit pages show cart.  I wonder if this is the reason.  Thanks.

Tomas,

I see what you are talking about as it looks like changes have been made since I last did a test purchase.  I think this is a problem.  What do you mean per Google's policy that it has to be offered before inputting any customer data?  It is offered in the cart screen on my listings!  Why does it also show up at the top of the customer information page?  This looks like it is showing that payment will be made via Google Checkout and not via Paypal!  If someone wants to pay via Google checkout they can select the button in the cart screen not after they have selected the other option.  This sounds utterly rediculous to have it also show up after they have selected another option.  I want this removed from the customer information page.  If the policy for Google states what you say then having it in the cart screen should be sufficient since it is well before the customer inputs any information.  Please respond to the ASAP as I am extremely frustrated by this.  Thanks.

They haven't selected any other payment option at this point. They select their payment option from the second and final page of the checkout page (where google checkout is not offered).

I've added a little text above the Google Checkout button on the first checkout page to read "Proceed for other payment options or use"

Tomas,

If it is going to be added on the customer information page then I don't want it showing in the cart.  How do I remove this?

The only way to remove it from your cart is to use the custom template option and create a custom template for your shopping cart to not include the Google Checkout button. The checkout page can not be modified in anyway.

Custom templates are only available for select upgraded accounts and they can not be applied to only one page, every page must have a custom template assigned.
