| Tomas, It would be nice if there was a feature next to the weight feature where you could add in an additional amount to be charged on top of the calculated shipping. The reason for this is to account for the amounts it cost for packaging supplies for anything sent parcel post and for delivery confirmation or signature required as the Postal Service charges extra for these. We like to use the delivery confirmations just so if someone doesn't receive their items we can show that they have been delivered. There are a lot of unscrupulous individuals out there that will say they never received their item and we would have no way of proving otherwise. Ashleigh

Yeah, a handling fee really is a must. That way I can add a flat fee to each shipment rather than raising prices or fudging weights on each item in order to work it out.

| You want customers know how much you are charging for packing materials? That does not make sense I have been in the retail Biz for over 25 years and you should just include it into your shipping costs... calling it shipping and handling cost. Example... We sell selenite crystal lamps that weighs over 15 lbs and because they are fragile I have to put almost 2 pounds of packing material into a large box to protect it... do you think the customer would want to pay an extra $2.50 for paper and a large box? NO so include it in the shipping and they are ((happy not to know)). My opinion for what it's worth, Good luck all

I understand what you are saying. However, the feature I am describing wouldn't be visible to the customer only the seller in their admin page. For instance, on our end we would list the weight of the item to be calculated automatically, then the new feature would allow us to list the additional shipping costs for such items as poly envelopes and shipping label cost to be added into what comes back from USPS. This would still show up on checkout as it does today, under shipping cost included. It would NOT indicate an additional notification such as handling fee! Which is basically the same thing that you are doing now only it is more precise. Besides the customer can't see what the weight is for the package anyway and if they really wanted to could see the additional amounts tacked onto a package by simply going to the USPS website and putting what they estimate the weight to be and their address. Also, I attempted to increase the weight to offset this but since USPS does most of their weights based on lbs, if you are only a few ounces over then it will charge the next highest lbs weight. I don't want to do this as it costs the customer more money and hurts sales. I would rather charge them the exact weight and additional cost of sending the package. I don't attempt to make any money off of shipping. Hope now you can see the reason for this feature. Thanks and sorry for the long winded explanation!
