Hi,

I was wondering what tips everyone had for selling items on here. I don't even have hits. On ebay I have 35 hits for the same products. I don't know what to do? The fees for that other place are getting out of hand. I'm not even sure if I'm making anything in the end..thanks for your help.

Hi
Very nice site
Good luck

You need to promote your site yourself here
Although I would think you should be getting hits
Theres a thread on promotion
did you fill out your google attributes for google base ?
it's very slow for me, but I sell fine jewelry and in a slow economy well it's slow.

Oh and put your site link on your signature here and every where

You could make better use of your title tags and keywords for SEO. Think about how you would search for your products. What keywords and keyword phrases would you use?

Having your own website (and that's what you have at BISI) is very different from selling on eBay. For the most part, prospective buyers don't come to the BISI home page and do a search like they do on eBay. They will find your products through the search engines: Google, MSN, Yahoo, etc. So you have to do what it takes to get your products found in those searches. Google Base will get you into a Product search but you can get yourself into regular search results, too. Good keywords and CONTENT will help. Put as much product information as possible on each product page. Use the SEO option with each category of having a description at the top.

There are all kinds of things we can do to get our websites and our products found. It just takes educating ourselves about search engine optimization and marketing. Fortunately, there is plenty of good information and help available on the web and here on the BISI forum.

I know a lot of people get discouraged and give up but it just takes some time and effort on your part and it isn't any harder than "doing" eBay. The eBay of today is probably more time-consuming than ever for sellers. Daily changes to keep up with; search disadvantaging; falling on one's sword to get good feedback. You can spend hours each day just trying to keep up and hope that eBay doesn't decide to hide your items after all your efforts.

In the end, having control of our own businesses makes it worthwhile to educate ourselves and do the work to be successful, IMO.

I also think it just takes time period for a new website to get traffic. From what I have been hearing traffic and sales can take a year to really get good.

i just signed up here for the free site. i have other stores that are free and you have to promote your store a lot. sign up for directories, some are free and some aren't. i just paid $50 to get on 70 top directories and some search engines. the stores i have are a year old and i am starting to get a few sales. i like the meta tags and information taken on this site to help with the search engines. I found out you don't get much for free. but, i am impressed with what is free on this site. there is a lot of information in reports etc. that help keep track of things. check the promotions area and see what everyone else is doing. Newbie, Brent.

I had an electronics store on here, and did very little advertising but was making around 2000 a week in profits just from search engines. You should check out www.linkreferral.com too. You can rate other sites and in return they rate yours. It helps get alot of quality visitors in return. I have been selling self defense products on here for around a month and have been getting alot of traffic. No sales on this one yet, but alot of interested people none the less. Good luck.
