Does anybody here make flyers to promote their store?  If so, can you pass along any easy ways of doing that?  I open up Word and there sits a blank page.  A customer is asking me for some.  Here we go again with another time consuming project.  I can't get my store in order if I have to keep doing these projects (ugh.....).  But I know, it's part of the selling process.  So any suggestions for an easy fix would be greatly appreciated.

Well, to start with I personally wouldn't use Word for that. I'd use a graphics program. I have a very inexpensive program called Printmaster that I've used for tons and tons of stuff like that. I've printed labels and business cards and forms and just about everything. My copy is even a couple of generations old but I still love it. Lots of print graphics programs come loaded with a lot of easy to use templates for a quick start.

One thought, a flyer with very much color is going to use a lot of ink and if you send it out, color printing can get expensive. Does it need to be a flyer or can you print something on cardstock that is the size of a postcard or something? Or even business card size? If you design an informational postcard, you can get 100 of them printed free in full color on glossy stock from VistaPrint.com. You just pay the shipping which for me is usually about $6-$7.

Hi Gayla,

Great idea!!  I've used Vista Print before for business cards.  I know that they have other options available to print too.  You're right about the ink too; it does take tons.  I was just trying to think of something quick to get it in the mail to her.  She sounds like she wants them "yesterday".  If I can create something at Vista, at least I can let her know what I'm doing and say it'll be on the way shortly.  Vista shipped rather quickly.

Thanks again!

I use photoshop for a lot of things, but I wouldn't pay the price for photoshop if all I was going to do was to make print material for myself.

Here's what I did for right now.  I didn't have time to wait for Vista Print but I'll refer back to that later when I want to take time to create a master sales brochure/flyer.  I belong to AmericanGreetings.com and that allows you to create and print greeting cards or projects.  You pay a yearly fee.  I created something quick and easy with that program and only printed one.  Then I had hubby make color copies on his printer.  It wasn't the most economical thing to do because of the ink used, but it was a quick fix for my issue at hand today.  I've been buying my ink at great discount the last few times.  Anything to save money!!  I appreciate the good ideas though.  Everybody is so helpful here.

Sorry for the delay in answering.  I MUST REMEMBER to subscribe to the topics I post in to keep track of the conversation, cuz so far I've been forgetting.

I started buying my ink from 4inkjets.com.  They reuse spent cartridges if I'm not mistaken.  Nevertheless, the savings is real nice and I haven't noticed a huge difference in ink quality; maybe just a tad.  I had to shop around for better pricing for my own printer as well as my husband's printer at his shop.  Between the 2 of us, we have alot of ink to supply ourselves.  I refuse to pay those exaggerated ink prices anymore.  It's just a racket.  It reminds me of our current gasoline issues.  They know we have to have it, so they gauge us to death on price.  With the current trends, we all might as well get used to buying and using generic cuz we won't be able to afford the real deal.  That's my forecasted opinion.
