Just curious, I will be closing my store as well shortly, but I will be running auctions on my gently used item.

I want to put somewhere that I have the bisi store, but where? Am I only allowed to put it in the About Me pages?  Can I put it somewhere on the listing or is that not allowed?

I was just wondering what you did.

thanks

Jacki

My link is still in my About Me, but I won't even run auctions over there unless things improve A LOT! Starting in July, you'll get slapped for having any off-eBay links anywhere, even in About Me where it is now allowed, so you'll need to remove it. Always put a flyer, a coupon or a business card in every package you ship, directing customers to your new store.

Here is some text from the announcement:

The new Links Policy prohibits linking from a seller's listing or other content on eBay--including eBay Store pages, About Me pages, eBay Blogs, Reviews and Guides, and forums--to any site that offers a product or service for sale off eBay.

The policy is aimed at protecting eBay buyers from fraud or other bad experiences off eBay which are not covered by buyer protection programs.

The Links Policy also requires sellers to include all information relevant to the item or service being sold within the item description. Links to pages that further describe the item or include additional terms and conditions for the sale are not permitted. This is intended to protect buyers from making uninformed decisions based on information not provided in the listing. I currently have in my listing- at least part of them just simply a photograph with some phrasing on it. I do not say anything in my listing, except to point buyers to my about me page. In my about me page I do have the one allowed mention of my web site and it is in my favorite links section. I also have a link to my blogspot. Eventually my blogspot will be the only link.

Sellers are permitted to include the following links:

  • Links to any eBay property page including eBay, PayPal, Half.com, and StubHub, as long as no more than five links are included in any single listing or community post.

  • Links to photos of the item for sale, as long as the page displaying the photos doesn't offer, or link to a site that offers, a product or service for sale off eBay.

  • Links embedded within a listing to videos, as long as the video content and format complies with all eBay policies. You must also be the owner of the underlying rights to the video, including intellectual property rights, or be authorized to distribute the video by the rights owner.

  • Links or credits to third party solutions and services directly related to the particular listing

The one good thing I did get out of it was that all auction terms have to be in the acutal listing, you cannot not have a seperate like to your auction terms.

I did go to Ebay live chat and tried to get it clarified, but of course that was not possible- they cannot comment until the policy is released which is mid July.
