I would say leave the auctions to the auction sites, would be too difficult, and would also require a lot of attention to run as well as TONS of Tools, various hosting fee's, user accounts, etc. A ebtter idea though would be to allow users to link to other auction sites like the ones amazon etc. have.

Love the idea of linking to various auction sites (though I could see this getting messy, plus different sites have different formats, so lots of programming would be required). Not so in love with the auction-format idea : I just don't think I'd have enough individuals to my store who would want to duke it out for an item. Generally, when I go shopping online (other than eBay), I just want to buy the widget, not mess around and have to wait days to get it.
