| Hi! I've searched the boards and wasn't able to come up with anything that answered my questions, so I'm sorry if this is a repeat that I missed the answer to. I'm not yet ready to upgrade to host my domain here. At the present time I just have the free Go Daddy 5 page thing set up that has links to my other store. What I want to know is: 1. Can I just use the forward from Go Daddy and point it here? 2. If I can, how does that work? What happens or shows up in searches if someone was looking for SmilinEyesTreasures.com? What are the benefits to using forward as opposed to what I am doing now? Any help from those who understand all this "stuff" would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Susan

| I'm not familiar with GoDaddy, but you should be able to point your domain to your store. I have my own domain with iPower and have it pointing to my bisi store. I have submitted my domain to google, etc., and when I search for my domain my store comes up with the bisi address. (I don't use masking on my domain, because I've read before that the search engines don't like this.) Nikki

I have a domain forwarded here from godaddy. www.hotfix-ideas.com If someone types that into a browser bar, it drops them in at my bisi home page but the browser address becomes the bisi address. In other words, no masking, which you probably don't want to do anyway. But when that domain is searched in google, I get no results. It's an obscure domain that I've never used for anything except experimenting. So if you think customers will be searching for your domain rather than typing it into the bar, you probably want to have a page for them to land like you do now. I'm intending to host a domain on my accounts here at bisi, I just haven't gotten to it yet. I think it's a good marketing move.

Thanks for the replies - I originally set it up that way so that it would just come up in search engines in case someone had remembered the name of my store and googled just that. Eventually I do plan to host it here, but not just yet.

| Through GoDaddy you can do the domain forwarding in your Manage My Domains area (somewhere). Or, you can create a splash page with your 5 free pages and have links to your bisi store. OR, you can purchase their $3.99 a month hosting and do a permenant PHP redirect. However, I would just spend the extra 96 cents and pay for the upgraded store as that will serve you better than a PHP redirect and best out of all options listed. PS. I saw your photographs. You do wonderful with them!

Thanks Jennifer I am planning on upgrading to hosting here after I get better set up, I was wondering if there was any benefit to forwarding my domain here in the meantime. I guess I'll just leave it alone for now and wait till I upgrade.

The only real benefit would be if you are pushing the domain in advertising, be it business cards, web ads, ME page on ebay, email signatures, etc.
