Second Category not showing up

I know there's been talk of the second category quantity not showing up on the home page but has anyone asked Tomas if he could fix this? I didn't think that this was worthy of a support ticket but didn't know if he was ever asked. Anyone know?

I have asked Tomas before and he said:

This is only available if you are using a custom template at this time.

Then I asked:

Is there a way to remove the (0) next to my secondary category? I would rather have it be blank than show zero.

And he replied:

The category counts will only reflect the count of the parent category ID. Secondary categories do not display product counts.
